Skilled Nursing Care in a Peaceful Setting

Medicare (Part A/Skilled) Services require a three night qualifying stay in a hospital and the patient's medical condition requires skilled nursing care. Patient's may be covered for up to 100 days depending on their medical condition . The first 20 will be paid 100% and the next 80 days paid 80%. After 100 days, there must be a 60 day break in the illness to re-qualify.

Medicare (Part A) covers post-hospital stays for patients needing extra nursing care.  The Manor provides continuous licensed nursing care to meet the needs of patients requiring more care. The daily price for Med A care is set by a patient’s level of illness and is paid by Medicare.

Medicare (Part B) covers restorative therapies.  The therapies available include physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and speech therapy (ST). Therapies are provided as often as ordered by the doctor.

Outpatient (Part B) Therapy is available to area residents. Therapy services—PT, OT, and ST—are available on an outpatient basis. To receive outpatient therapy services under Medicare Part B, a doctor’s order, Medicare and insurance cards are needed.

Adult Care is the level of service normally associated with nursing homes and includes assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). ADLs such as dressing, toileting, transferring from bed to wheelchair, eating, bathing, and medication are all covered for a flat daily fee. There are no additional charges for levels of care as patients get older. Medical supplies are charged separately.

Alzheimer’s Care is provided on our Special Care Unit (SCU) also known as Sunflower Lane. SCU residents receive the same adult care services as other residents only with a higher staff to resident ratio which includes an activity director dedicated to daily programming for our 12 dementia patients.

Medicaid reimbursement from the State of Kansas pays for about half the Manor’s residents. Medicaid is the government health care benefit for citizens who have exhausted their resources. To qualify for this benefit requires an application process through the Butler County SRS, a process with which our bookkeeper and admissions coordinator are glad to help families.

VA Contract services are limited to veterans designated by the VA.  For more information about how to qualify to become a VA contract patient, contact the Wichita VA.
